Lull me out of my suspicions Feb24 '02
So anyway, let’s get back to that excerpt from "The Martian Chronicles," that I used to portray how I view the female species.
If I had a response board on this site, I bet a lot of people would say that I simply think girls are "Martians." Well, that’s not quite right. More specifically, and if you read the excerpt well, I was alluding to the unnoticed and unsuspected DECEIT that girls put forth onto guys. The "Martians" in the excerpt presented themselves in a form that Captain John Black would never question, rightfully adore, and completely accept – only to find out in the end that what he thought was real, was actually deception going on right in front of him all along. And as Bradbury puts it, "to lull me out of my suspicions."
Unfortunately as the story goes, Captain John Black never made it to tell of his encounter with the evil force of Martains. But I, however, will not only live to tell – I’ll live happier, and benefit far greater from having been taught a lesson from our very own "Martians" of the planet Earth.
