It’s not a holiDAY, it’s a holiYEAR Jan01 '03

Happy New Year to everyone once again.

I’m going to get serious now, because the fun and games are over. It’s time for business.

Now that the holidays are offically over, we all can breathe a huge sigh of relief. Was that not ridiculous or what? I mean, the last two months were just too much. Christmas should not be a two month holiday. It’s one day for crying out loud!!

My friend Chance and I went to a comedy club this past Sunday night in Vernon Hills, here in good ‘ol Illinois. The place is called Zanies. Maybe some of you locals know what I’m talking about. Michelle and I have been there once, and Chance and I have been there twice, counting this last visit. It’s a great place. Many great stand up shows. When Michelle and I went, we saw Mark Cooper from Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper.

This past Sunday, Chance and I saw Louis Black from Comedy Central. Many of you probably know who he is. I, however, did not, until I saw him. I don’t watch much Comedy Central, let alone television itself.

But anyway, Louis starting talking about how Christians keep extending Christmas every year. He says it’s still not over yet. It was very funny and true. It’s ridiculous how we start Christmas shopping right after Thanksgiving. It’s absurd. It’s too much.

He says right after the Super Bowl in January, we begin thinking about Christmas. The holiday is no longer a holiDAY, it’s a holiYEAR. And why do we need so much stuff!? We just buy more and more and more and more.

So now it’s time to reorientate myself with what I was doing before all this chaos occured. My crazy work shifts at my part time job are going to slow down soon as well. It has been a long holiday season, and I’ve barely had time to think. I’m glad I can get back to my life now.

I have web sites and databases to create, programming languages to study, books to read, and so much more. I have my "Do not disturb" sign hanging on my wrist. I intend to start this year off right.
