Speaking Emails Oct09 '03

A new product that should hit the market, if it already hasn’t – is speaking emails. I think a product that did such a task would be greatly beneficial for those of us computer users who are busy with other computer tasks, and have no time to ponder over an email. With speaking emails, we could do other work while the email is being read to us. I think this would be amazing.

I would love to be read emails. Maybe it goes back to my days of having a bed time story read to me, but it always nice to be read to. Think about the radio. They read us the news. They read us the weather. They read us traffic reports. We love being read to.

We should have an option of reading our email ourselves, or having it read to us, much like our telephone answering machines. Of course, the email would not be read by the person who sent it, although that would be sweet – it would be read by a nice soft voiced woman, who’s speaking tone puts us at ease.

Email is so informal anyway – why not make it more professional? I’m suprised Apple hasn’t come out with such a feature in their email software. Someday soon I hope.
