The "race" to understand it all Mar06 '04
For the past few months, there has been heavy coverage of certain individuals in the newspapers and on T.V. Many of you may be able to guess who these individuals are. I believe they are called "presidential candidates?"
You see, this may sound silly, but I’m not sure what’s going on with this whole president thing. Maybe some other people are confused too, or maybe I’m just malnourished when it comes to politics. In any case, I’d like some brief explanations on a few things...
These are some things I am confused about:
- I thought we voted for a new president in November? Is that still the case? If so, what is all the craziness about now – in March, for crying out loud?
- At this point in time, what are these gentleman running for? The right to run against Bush, or the right to run against each other?
- So basically, any person at all can run for presidency, correct? Do you have to have a degree or experience of some sort in order to run?
- What is all this mention of winning certain states? How do you win a state, and who in that state is actually voting?
- How many guys can run against Bush? Is there a limit?
- All these guys are strangers to me. How can I possibly develop a sense of who they are, and what they believe in – enough for me to consider voting for them to run this nation? I never really understood that.
These are just a few of my political questions. Maybe someone has some answers.
