No baseball in America tonight Jul14 '04
Wow. I can’t think of any other day, from April to October that there’s absolutely no major league baseball games on.
The schedule is blank on this warm summer night. Players and teams are sorting themselves out after the All–Star festivities from the past two days.
Tomorrow, things resume, and the second half begins. And come October...
When the leaves start to fall, and the weather drops a bit, will a Chicago team still be playing? Will the neighborhood bars be packed with screaming fans, while the cool October air rustles the leaves outside?
Let’s hope. The city needs it.
