Surviving Charley Aug14 '04

My allergies didn’t help the situation. A cat’'s trail sure enough lends the appropriate dander, of which had me scratching my nose and sneezing for hours.

Around 8:10 PM EDT, Hurricane Charley swept through the heart of Orlando, after hours of intense foreboding. The TV news stations (during those sporadic moments when we had electricity) pumped us with fear – fear for our houses, fear for our cars, and fear for our lives. And with winds of up to 120 MPH, we new that fear was just outside our front door.

The winds provided intense pressure on the windows of the house, the roof, and undoubtebly – the walls themselves.

Thankfully, nothing caved in. Nothing shattered. We are all fine and well.

However, considerable damage was certainly evident, the morning after:

The damage from Hurricane Charley More damage from Hurricane Charley More damage from Hurricane Charley More damage from Hurricane Charley More damage from Hurricane Charley More damage from Hurricane Charley More damage from Hurricane Charley More damage from Hurricane Charley More damage from Hurricane Charley More damage from Hurricane Charley

This is only a few of the many pictures taken, which showcase the destruction caused by Charley.

I guess we are lucky to be alive. There doesn’t seem to be any more hurricanes in the forecast, but you never know.
