Domain management software Sep07 '04
For years, I have been coming up with ways to keep track of all the information associated with buying domain names, and purchashing server space at a hosting company.
At first, I tried just paper files, in my file cabinet. That was never convenient – so then, as I learned MySQL, I tried storing all the information in a database, but I still never remembered to check the database, before the expiration dates hit.
You see, there are so many expiration dates associated with managing web sites. You have the domain name expiration, and you have the server space expiration. And when you have 10 or more domain names, things get kind of confusing.
Of course, many domain name and hosting companies keep your credit card on file, so they can just charge you when the time comes. But I still would like to be notified of that charge – before it happens.
Finally, a product has surfaced, with it’s sole purpose to organize domain names. And what better, it’s for OS X. DomainTracker seems pretty decent, upon first use, and I hope it solves my "domain management problems."
