Comments for file/folder names in OS X Oct21 '04

Based on this tip, I have recently started to write comments for each file or folder on my hard drive.

Comments are an interesting alternative to file/folder names, in that they allow for a more detailed description of each file or folder.

On Mac OS X, writing such comments is quite easy. By simply selecting File, Get Info (Command + I), the Get Info dialog box appears, and it has a sub–tab for comments:

File, Get Info, Comments box

Any file or folder can have comments attached to it.

And, in "Details" view – you can see your comments, alongside the file/folder name, and date modified, etc.

View your comments in the Finder

I like this feature, even though I tend to use "Column" view, more than "Details" view, in the Finder.
