A couple of the better albums released today.

Pearl Jam

Pearl Jam released a "Greatest Hits" album today... as most bands have already done. The "Greatest Hits" trend, that is going on in the world of music, is a topic for another day.

Titled Rearviewmirror, after a song off the album Vs., Pearl Jam packed this double–disc set with 34 songs of the best 90’s alternative rock you can find.

And the 90’s... is where Pearl Jam should stay.

In my opinion, everything after their 1998 presence, Yield, should be ignored. Their new stuff seems "out of place," with grunge rock behind us.

But they continue to make music, and all the power to them.

Collective Soul

Youth is the latest, by Collective Soul.

I haven’t actually heard the album yet, but I plan to within the next hour.

I heard it’s great, but judging by the cover, it’s an entirely different band:

Collective Soul – Youth

First of all, I hate the logo. It’s so overused, and I’m tired of that same generic "swirl." And the star? Oooh, how creative.

And why does Collective Soul need sex to sell? They are better than that. They are better than this cover.

I will find out soon if I am right.
