Group blogging Feb18 '05
I’ve been thinking about "group blogging" lately, and how I could get it started.
"Group blogging" is a blog that is contributed to by many different individuals. In other words, instead of just ME writing my thoughts and ideas on the blog, there would be many authors – but still one blog.
Advantages of "Group blogging"
The advantages of "Group blogging" are numerous:
- More frequent posts
- Different viewpoints from different authors
- A much "richer," and "involved" site
- Numerous minds are better than one
It’s easy to see, that by having many authors write to a site, that site becomes much more than an individual blog.
Topic needed
The most important part of setting up a "Group blog," is to decide on a topic.
Since I am the one who wishes to set this up, I may have a problem, since my topics on this site are rather sporadic. In case you haven’t noticed (I sure have), I have no general topic for this site. No genre, if you will.
This is OK – because this site is about ME. I can discuss whatever I’d like.
But, a "Group blog" has to have direction, and purpose.
Authors
Finding other authors is the easy part. All I’d have to do is find anyone interested in the topic, and willing to contribute every so often to the blog.
They’d get a username/password, and be able to log into the Admin interface, to make their updates – from anywhere in the world, at any time.
That much is easy.
It’s the topic and content that’s hard.
