Oh so much April news Apr08 '05
I’m currently working on a lot of Mac issues, which explains why I have been absent in the blogging world, lately.
Well... this week was also my 25th birthday, start of the baseball season, end of the incredible Illini run in college basketball, and gorgeous weather, here in Chicago.
I guess those things have been attacking my attention, too.
Mac issues
My 3.5 year–old Mac is acting up, and not in pleasant ways. It is extremely slow on startup; and little things like not being able to access my "Recently Played" smart playlist in iTunes, and my system clock resetting to December 1969 (on every restart) is a sign that something could be off.
I know I have been lazy with the "upkeep" of my Mac, and now I regret it.
Mac mini for me
I am seriously considering a purchase of a Mac mini, just as soon as Tiger comes out, and Apple updates their line of Mini’s.
I am not foolish enough to purchase a new Apple computer, right before a new Apple OS comes out, of which I’d have to buy as well. Might as well buy the computer with the new OS bundled with it.
I figured the Mac mini is a great choice, simply because it’s size, and capabilities.
Not to mention... if a computer the size of a medium–sized book packs more power than my giant G4 desktop, I think the decision is an obvious one.
For $599 (1/3 the cost of my G4 desktop), I can get a 1.42 GHz, 80 GB computer, which is twice the speed and storage of my current Mac. – and 1/8 the size!
That’s right. You could probably fit eight Mac mini’s within a G4 desktop, or a G5, for that matter.
I am drooling over the space–saving possibilities of a Mac mini.
Birthday, sports, weather
This week has been a wild one, in other areas of my life, and I am thankful for the good times and memories.
I am 25 (still young), the Cubs season has begun (an everyday love affair), and the weather has perked up, here in Chicago.
During the horrid winter weather, I’d blog at lunch, after eating with my co–workers – but this week, we have been outside every day at lunch, playing frisbee, baseball, or just sitting in the sun.
What to look forward to from Matthom
I have so many things to talk about, that I have put aside. I will get there soon...
The new version of this site is being built, as well as a smoother back–end, for quicker admin access, so I can update faster and more efficiently – from anywhere.
Also, I wrote an article for Digital–Web, that should be popping up soon – so keep an eye out for that. (You’ll have to wait to see what topic I discuss there.)
I thought it would have been neat if it was posted on my birthday, which was the 6th, but it didn’t happen. Oh well. It’ll be up soon.
