Bird’s eye view? Mapquest already had that Apr13 '05

Am I the only one who is not at all impressed by Google’s recent announcement of incorporating satellite capabilities into their map software?

It’s a nice feature, sure. But it’s been done.

Mapquest had this feature for quite some time, but it was partially buried under some options.

Unfortunately, Mapquest no longer has the feature, for whatever reason. I tried to find it at their site, and I had no luck.

So is everyone going to believe my mere words?

Heck no. I don’t expect anyone to. That’s why I have proof.

I kept a satellite photo, from 2002:

You can even see the copyright date at the bottom left corner of the image. It doesn’t say "Mapquest," but since Google Maps was hardly a thought in it’s Daddy’s pants, I’d strongly believe this image was taken from Mapquest.
