Bulls finish season <strong> Apr20 '05

Last night’s final regular season home game for the Bulls summed up the season perfectly.

It’s never over in the NBA. The Bulls have proved that all season long, and finished – for the first time in a long time – with 47 wins, and a fourth seed in the playoffs, with home–court advantage for the first round.

Who would have thought all this would happen? Not me. I gave them credit, but I never guessed they would make it this far.

To express my happiness for this team would merely fall short, with just words. I am elated beyond expression.

After Ben Gordon hit the game winning shot, with only seconds left (for the zillionth time this season), I could only think how far the Bulls have come, since November.

And, as Tyson Chandler carried Ben off the court at the end of the game, in front of a wild United Center crowd, the sweet sound of victory echoed through the city of Chicago, just like the old days.

We don’t have Michael to carry us on his back, this time, but we have hope, and that’s all that matters.

Sunday afternoon begins a new era. The Bulls play host to the Washington Wizards, at 4:30 PM.

Although it’s at the same arena they have played 41 games already this season – something will be different this time. The atmosphere will be alive.

I will not be in attendance, but I will be watching from afar (or a bar) – soaking it all in.
