Wicked evening ahead May01 '05

Tonight is Wicked, at the Oriental Theatre (Ford Center for the Performing Arts).

This is the last performance that I will see, under our current ticket plan, which included about six shows.

Tonight’s performance begins at 7:30 PM, so it looks to be another late Sunday evening.

Hype

There has been a lot of hype surrounding Wicked, and I am excited to be able to see it, on only it’s third day, here in Chicago. Supposedly, it’s running all the way through July or August.

For those unaware, Wicked dispels the happenings of the pre–Dorothy era, from The Wizard of Oz. Apparently, the "wicked witch" had much going on, even before Dorothy entered the picture, and it’s worth a story. That story we will witness this evening.

Teenage girls

(I’m gonna get some interesting referrals for that header text.)

My parents have mentioned the inspiration that Wicked has imposed upon teenage girls – or, more importantly, teenage girls with a "rebellious," or "outcast" personality, because apparently the "wicked witch" shares their feelings.

(And, yes, there’s at least about 600 of these personalities at every high school in America.)

So, there should be a lot of rebellious teenage girls in the audience tonight.

Company

My older sister Christine, and her husband Jeff, will also be in attendance tonight. It’s 4:45 PM right now, and I’m sure they are down there already, only because they had dinner reservations first.

We won’t be sitting with them, though. They have much closer seats than we do.

Oh, and me – I’ll be going with Shell, her sister Nicole (who is taking a break from Disney), and their parents.

Should be a good night.
