iTunes playlist ideas: baseball theme May24 '05

For my commutes this week, I’ve created two new smart playlists, which maximize my time spent in the car.

Third Hitter: 45 minutes

On my way to work, "Third Hitter: 45 minutes" uses a baseball analogy to supply songs to the playlist. The third hitter, in baseball, hits right before the cleanup hitter (which you’ll see next), and often contains some hitting power of his own.

In other words, this playlist selects songs that are in the third track spot of their respective album.

This playlist runs for 45 minutes, which is about the amount of time it takes me to get to work. This means I can hit "play," and be rest assured that my music will end at about the same time I arrive at work.

(No senseless "driving around the block to finish a song")

Cleanup Hitter: 45 minutes

On my way home from work, I listen to Cleanup Hitter: 45 minutes, which also uses the baseball theme, to supply songs that are the fourth track on their respective albums.

The fourth hitter in baseball is often dubbed, the "Cleanup hitter."

This playlist is also 45 minutes in length, which is about the amount of time it takes me to get home, each day.
