Password storage facts Jun12 '05
I keep track of all usernames/passwords for web sites/applications in a local MySQL database, running on my Mac.
I’ve been doing this for a year – and since June 13, 2004 (exactly a year ago) – I have added 56 new username/password combinations, for various web sites/applications.
This could be anything from Fandango.com, to the iTunes Music Store, to my own personal applications.
Of course, most of these usernames/passwords are identical (I use the same username and password where I can), it’s still 56 separate realms... and counting.
Anyone think that’s a bit nuts? It’s just another reason why the web is truly a poor experience.
