Corgan: Truth or deception? Jun21 '05

I’m really intrigued with today’s ad in the Chicago Tribune of Billy Corgan, who addresses Chicago with a personal letter of emotional truth (supposedly), from his own heart and mind.

Corgan explains how he longs for his former band, The Smashing Pumpkins, while, at the same time, mentions his new solo album, which, coincidently, was also released today.

This is interesting to me – not only because I am a big fan of The Smashing Pumpkins, and would love to see a re–union – but because I can’t seem to figure out the true intention of the ad.

Was the ad placed just to attract attention to buy his new solo album, or is Corgan really serious about his feelings and intentions about re–uniting the band?

I really want to believe that Corgan is serious about his intentions, but the strange coincidence of it all is too hard to overlook.

And if it really is just a teaser to buy the solo album, all the power to him.

Because now I want to buy it...
