Podcast possibilities Jul13 '05

I am thinking of creating a podcast for this site, because I already have experience with audio recording, and I think I could learn a lot more, while enhancing the content.

Quick background of Podcasting

A podcast is an audio broadcast (much like a radio show), of pretty much anything the author likes to talk about. Podcasts use the power of RSS to promote themselves, in linear order.

So, much like the RSS feed for this blog shows the latest entries posted – an RSS feed for a podcast would link to the latest episode, or "show."

The podcast RSS feed would link to an audio file (for example, MP3), which contains the entire audio recording.

And once you subscribe to a particular podcast, you will always be notified of the newest episode, which you can then transfer to your portable audio player, or listen directly from your computer.

Podcasts eliminate restraints from time and geography.

My previous audio recording experience

I’ve had some experience with audio recording, in the past. I own a couple of MiniDisc players, which I use for many things. They are excellent for low–end audio recording, with an external microphone.

I’ve kind of buried them away, with the arrival of my iPod, but I still own all of my MiniDisc equipment and accessories – I just have to gather it all together.

Once I record my voice on a MiniDisc, all I have to do then is import it into the computer, via "Line in," or something similar.

What would I talk about?

It seems pretty pointless to do a podcast for a personal blog, but I think it would help expand my ideas on things, and let me clarify the points I make here, a bit better.

The possibilities are endless.

At first, I’d probably start out with one podcast a month, and re–cap a month’s worth of blog posts.

With podcasts, there is no right or wrong way to do things. It’s all up to the author.
