Rants and ideas to make life easier Aug28 '05
Rants, ideas, and just general things that would make my life a lot easier:
- An iPod holder for my car. I’m always fumbling with it - and I can never seem to find a good spot for it to "rest," while I’m driving.
- A mini AM/FM radio, which I can easily transport to different rooms/locations. For example, I hate shaving - so it would be nice to pass that time listening to the radio (or my iPod broadcast over the radio), while I shave. The only down side to this is that it means I’d have to carry another device, when I’m already at about six devices.
- The ability to turn microwave "beeps" to silent. Why not? It seems possible to turn off sound on the majority of electronic devices these days - including cell phones, cameras - so why is there not a way to turn off that incessant "beeping," every time I hit a button on the microwave? And then the three loud beeps at the end? Come on. It’s not necessary - and it just sends out a "red alert," saying, "Hey I’m in the kitchen!" Besides, nobody microwaves anything long enough to have to be "alerted" when it’s done.
- Wider filtered water spouts on refridgerators. This might seem quite silly, but on many fridges with the water/ice option - the tube for the water is always so thin. It’s like an eight of an inch round. So, it takes a long time to fill up a gallon of water. I usually re-fill my water every day, from the filtered water on the fridge, but I end up having to stand there for 10 minutes, holding the container under the spout. Why are they so thin?
- In-house, land-line telephones are an extreme interruption. I can’t believe people lived with these things in their house for so long! Why do people insist on letting other people interrupt them (by telephone), whenever they please? There should be either a way to turn land-line telephones on silent, or have a choice of ring-tones - ones that are more soft and friendly, as opposed to that solid, loud ring.
- Consecutive speed humps. I mean, seriously - I can understand one - but three on the same block!? All the speed hump does is "bottom out" cars, anyway. People just get more aggravated with them - and then proceed to speed, after they’ve cleared the speed humps - to make up for lost time.
