iTrip not working; alternatives abound Sep05 '05

My iTrip, for my iPod, has taken a leave to the "other side." It seems that no amount of CPR will save this young fellow. He lived a short life - a year - but that’s all the life he can give me.

It’s ironic, indeed, that my iTrip stopped functioning at the same time that Griffin releases a new iTrip - one with an LCD screen, and perhaps more stability.

iTrip issues

But, I’m not sure I want to buy another iTrip family member. Despite the fact that it no longer works, I had some daily issues with it, when it did work. The one thing I hated about it the iTrip was that there was no way to "lock" it in, when attached to the iPod. I can’t tell you how many times I accidently knocked off the iTrip, from the iPod, and watched it sail to the ground.

RoadTrip

Griffin offers a product called RoadTrip, which provides the same features as iTrip, but a much more stable device, which plugs into the bottom of the iPod, rather than the top.

iTalk

The good part about RoadTrip is that it leaves the top of the iPod open for other devices, such as iTalk.

I’m thinking about purchasing both the RoadTrip and iTalk. Since I also carry a separate voice recorder, the iTalk may strip me of a device, which is always helpful, since I carry numerous devices, and they are hard to juggle, at times.

Buy at Amazon

Of course I will make my purchases at Amazon, rather than from the Griffin web site. The reason? The Amazon prices are practically 1/3 off for most of the exact same Griffin products!

Not to mention, I am an Amazon Prime member, so I get discounted shipping, as well.
