Cooling fans needed on a hot day Sep06 '05
I noticed this afternoon that the fan, on the back of my computer, here at work, was not running. I should have realized that things seemed a bit too quiet.
As I touched the back of my computer, it almost burned my hand. Sure enough, the fan was not moving. I tried sticking a pencil in there to make it move, but it didn’t budge.
I was fortunate to catch it in time, otherwise it could have become hot enough to fry the hard drive.
Off to the repair shop it goes, as I try to manage on a different computer, for the next day or two.
Luckily, working on the internet, most of my files are "server based." Still, it presents a slight issue with some software, such as FTP programs, and higher-end text editors, which require registration, etc.
