Edward Burns and Final Cut Pro Jul19 '06

Edward Burns (IMDB) is one of my favorite actors and directors. He’s wrote and acted in such films as Ash Wednesday, Fifteen Minutes, and Confidence. All these movies are gritty, full-length accounts of stories that stick with you, long after you see them.

That’s why I was delighted yesterday to see this Apple Pro profile of Ed Burns, discussing how he relies on a small budget to create many of his films, which are typically deep, thoughtful character-driven narratives, rather than big Hollywood blockbusters.

Burns has a knack for "substance over style," which drew me in immediately. He’s also really good at creating big movies from small budgets.

And the small budget has led him to Apple’s powerful Final Cut Pro software.

That’s a combo I can really enjoy.
