The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada Aug20 '06
Kind of "sickly engaging," if that makes sense. Tommy Lee was sort of "twisted" in this one: un-burying a dead man, and dragging him through the hills. I mean, I know you loved the guy, man - but this might be going a little too far.
Also, Lee’s character subjects Barry Pepper’s character to some awful things. Especially since Mike Norton (Pepper) didn’t kill Estrada on purpose - it was an accident.
And I know I’ve seen Barry Pepper play the role of "stranded for dear-life, hanging onto a thread," "fatigued," etc - in The Snow Walker. Pepper seems to be good in roles with not a lot of talking, and just showing his sheer determination to fight for his life.
As a postive, it was interesting to see the "depth" of Tommy Lee’s character - at how much he really loved and felt for Estrada. And he let Barry Pepper’s character go free, which was a peaceful ending. They both ended up learning quite a lot by the end of their journey.
