Elizabethtown Sep04 '06
This movie was so much like Garden State (even the title, Elizabethtown - being named after a location), but still unique and amazing in it’s own way.
Often I’d get so lost in the characters, I almost forgot I was looking at Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst. They both allowed me to fall in love with the little nuances of their everyday lives - it was truly captivating.
Many people think "everyday life" is boring, but I believe it’s those little nuances that make life so beautiful. Those things you can’t capture in a photo - the kind that sneak up on you on some random Friday in April.
I was almost sad to see it end, and have go back to real life - my own life.
Although it was Claire (Dunst) who truly made me tear (especially at the end), it was Drew’s (Bloom) "internal thinking" that really made this story real. His voiceover/thoughts were slow-paced, subtle, slightly exaggerated, but completely whimsical - which is the "word of the movie."
"Whimsical. Why not?"
