Recorded song - Thin Air by Pearl Jam Nov06 '06

I've recorded another song, for kicks, and I'm posting it here for kicks, as well.

I am finding that the "blog format" is not suitable for music recordings. I don't like having to write a new blog entry every time I record a song, and wish to share it.

I know there's gotta be a better way to release audio content on the web, and I have a hunch that it may be simple to just use an RSS feed for my audio content, much like podcasts do.

Look for that in the future.

The recording

For now, here's a recording of a Pearl Jam song called Thin Air. It's on their album titled Binaural, originally released in 2000.

I typically post the chords and lyrics, but it's very time consuming to write out chords, plus it's somewhat illegal, as of late.

Standard tuning: E, C, D, A, F, G. (As you can see, a very simple song, using all major chords.)

My thoughts

I need to work on my singing - it's rather crude. I need to start singing from the gut, rather than the chest.

Playing this song was easy, for any beginner guitarist. As I mentioned, it uses a bunch of major chords, so it's relatively straight-forward.

I experimented further in GarageBand, specifically with different guitar sounds - using the built-in filters. I also messed around with drums (software instruments), but I could never quite get it to sound right, so I left them out.

I feel that this song could have came out better, but I wasn't willing to spend any more hours on it.
