Bears loss gets me down, but not out Feb07 '07

The Bears lost. We made it so far, and ended up going down with hardly a fight. I am disappointed, but still grateful for this season.

I am not going to talk about the game, or what could have been. I just want to say it was really nice to see everyone around me all rooting for the same thing. For the past few months, we were all on the same page. We shared a common goal; a common desire. We were united together.

Whether or not I liked that person - he was cool because he was also rooting for the Bears.

Sports has a nice way of bringing people together. It gives us a reason to look beyond the daily struggles of life. For a few short hours every Sunday, the outside world didn't matter. We remained captivated to our television screens, in the hopes that the Bears could provide us an emotional lift - making us proud to be living in Chicago; proud to be Bears fans.

People really were in cheerier moods when the Bears won. People were more productive, optimistic, and just happy about life.

After the game, driving to work on Monday morning, I realized that everybody was now separated again. We all had to go back to the random dullness of daily life. We were no longer united. It was a very depressing feeling.

But the feeling hasn't lasted. I know there is much more energy where that came from.

Here are the positives that I am looking at:

Most importantly, spring is around the corner, so if anything, the weather should cheer people up.
