Tournament recap/preview Mar14 '07

I had intended on doing a full write-up/synopsis of the Big Ten Tournament "volunteer experience" from this past week, but the days are slipping away on me, and already it's NCAA Tournament time.

I will be volunteering for the NCAA tournament as well, also taking place at the United Center in Chicago (first and second rounds only - Chicago is one of many regions hosting). Tonight we meet at the UC to discuss our roles, and starting tomorrow - Thursday through Sunday - I will be involved with the tournament in some fashion.

Big Ten Tournament recap

But let's not forget the experience of the Big Ten Tournament from last week. I had a great time, met a lot of new people, and enjoyed spending time with my brother (who also volunteered), and my girlfriend Michelle.

I tried to capture as much as I could from the Big Ten Tournament - using words, pictures, and even a video.

I posted these blog entries:

My Flickr account contains the following photo sets:

On YouTube, I posted a video that I recorded at the Big Ten Tournament celebration at Navy Pier, this past Saturday night. The video is of the Ohio State and Wisconsin bands/cheerleaders in a "cheer competition," which was loads of fun, and really got everyone "pumped up" for the game the very next day.

The people

The people are what make volunteering so much fun. I saw some old faces, met a lot of new faces, and just enjoyed the social aspect of being around something exciting and entertaining. It really helped clear my head.

With the NCAA Tournament looming, I hope to meet many more new people, and perhaps see some faces from last week who may be volunteering for this tournament as well.

And that's all there is to say. On Monday, another chapter will be closed on the great opportunity I've had being close to a sport I love, in the city I love, and in the venue of my favorite NBA team.

What more could one ask for?
