Stop CC'ing me after the fact Mar21 '07
Did you ever see The Office episode where Stanley says something like, "Stop CC'ing me on emails that I have nothing to do with."
Here's my request: Stop CC'ing me on email threads where I wasn't part of the original discussion. This is very aggravating.
I end up having to read through every response, and try to decipher everyone's half-assed sentences, and poor language usage.
In the end, who wants what? I have no idea, but I do know I just wasted 10 minutes.
Here is a tip to the individual who likes to CC everybody after the fact: Plopping more email addresses into the CC field will not help speed up resolution of the problem. You're better off creating a brand new email, and summing up the main points into a paragraph or two.
Don't force each new recipient to plow through everyone's response, and then expect them to fully understand what needs to be done.
It's just laziness.
(I have a feeling this is preluding to a longer topic on my recent thoughts that email is no longer a useful tool.)
For the record, it's OK to CC me when:
- The email is being sent for the first time, ie: I'm part of the original discussion.
After that, any new individuals should not be added to the CC list, until a new email is started.
