Firefox vs. Camino Jun08 '07
I have been using Firefox for years on Mac OS X, and it certainly has it's strengths. However, there are also many annoyances that make me wish things were simpler. Despite the annoyances, it's the best thing out there.
I've been trying for a while to start using Camino regularly, but with each consecutive release, I still can't make the jump. Here's why:
- I use a lot of Google apps, and most of them are developed for Firefox and IE only. Chances are Camino would probably work 75% of the time, but I need more reliability than that.
- Speaking of online apps, how is Camino's support for AJAX applications?
- From a developer's perspective, what does Camino offer me in terms of debugging tools for DOM-related JavaScript?
- Camino doesn't run on Windows, so I wouldn't be able to use any browser-specific synchronization tools.
All these things add up to the conclusion that Camino, despite it's speed and seamless integration in OS X, would probably not be a good fit for me right now.
