No Submit button? Jun08 '07

Lately I've been noticing that input text boxes sometimes leave out the "Submit" button. The application assumes the user knows to hit "Enter," once they type their text into the box.

Meebo, for example:

When searching through old chat logs, you can enter a search term. However, there's no "Submit" button. Hitting "Enter" will provide results, but who knows to do that? It seems naked without the "Submit" button.

Did the developers forget this, or did they leave it out intentionally?

It's bad usability to leave out the "Submit" button, unless the text box pulls results dynamically (as you type). This is the only exclusion to the rule that I can see.
