A-list bloggers
A-list bloggers are those men or women who have popular blogs. They have thousands of readers, and are often linked and quoted in many different ways. They can often persuade the masses, or even cause such "stirs" that their words are felt not only on the web, but in real life. (Such was the case when a recent Engadget blog post caused Apple's stock to take a hit immediately thereafter.)
A-list bloggers have notoriety for many reasons:
- They've excelled at evaluating a given topic or field.
- They have utmost passion for their topic or field.
- They started evaluating that topic or field at the right time.
- They prove their excellence on a consistent basis, and with respect to others in the same field.
- They are, without a doubt, talented.
- They've had lots of luck.
You don't just learn to become an A-list blogger, but rather, being an A-list blogger is typically thrust upon you.
It goes without question that you need extensive experience in your chosen blog field, as well as numerous contacts that can help spread the word.
But most importantly - you need talent, luck, and to be in the right place, at the right time.
Whereas millions have tried to find this "perfect avenue," only a selected few will actually stumble upon it.
On being a Non-A-list blogger
Non-A-list bloggers are a "dime a dozen." Approximately 90% of bloggers are non-A-list.
It's funny, because their motivation, talent, and passion are usually equal to that of an A-list blogger, but the notoriety is absent.
Why is that? Clearly the desire is there, and the words flow like wine.
What the non-A-list blogger is missing is the community of thousands of people that follow them. They're missing that "high impact" product or idea that pushes them over the edge. All A-list bloggers have achieved this at one point or another.
Notoriety doesn't happen overnight.
My advice to those that blog for a purpose, but still feel they are overlooked:
- Keep doing what you're doing.
- Blog for yourself, and don't worry about who reads it.
- Challenge yourself to try new things, and push the boundaries of existing things.
- Expand your contacts network as much as possible.
- Stay updated with all the latest news, ideas, and rumors. They more you know, they more intelligent you'll sound.
- Be confident that you know just as much, and perhaps more than the A-list bloggers.
