Leopard: Waiting is a virtue Oct28 '07
I haven't purchased OS X Leopard yet, despite all the noise on the web regarding it. Everyone has their stories of how they purchased it, what works, what doesn't, etc. In fact, for an avid Mac user, you'd think all this "talk" would increase my excitement and force me to go out and buy it.
Well, it hasn't yet. I've already mentioned all the things Leopard does that I may have no use for, but the truth is, I simply decided to save my $100 (and change) this weekend, and use it another time. Leopard is not going anywhere. Also, there is no "key feature" that makes me say, "I really need this now!" Other than typical Apple hype and anticipation, which Apple masterfully crafts together with their clever media pieces, I don't see an overly strong reason to run out and drop the money this second.
Plus, as an added benefit to waiting, I can read first-hand how Leopard installations are going, and learn from other people's mistakes, before I try it myself.
Who knows, maybe the price will also be reduced, like it was with the iPhone, but I highly doubt it. It's already discounted $20 on Amazon. I don't see it dropping much lower than that.
