Tech Cocktail Chicago review Nov16 '07

Tech Cocktail Chicago 6

Last night I attended Tech Cocktail Chicago 6 at John Barleycorn in downtown Chicago.

It was nice to get away from the computer and meet/interact with other like-minded individuals in the industry. Web professionals and tech gurus were in attendence, along with sponsors, prizes, and free alcohol.

Tech Cocktail's mission is to amplify the technology signal in under served areas, like Chicago and Boston. We can't all live in Silicon Valley (at least, not our whole lives).

Various sponsor booths were set up for web site demonstrations, although the WiFi signal was really weak. A few demonstrators were using their cell phone as an internet connection on the computer, which resulted in a clunky and poor experience, but still better than nothing.

Here are some of the companies/sites that were demonstrating their service, many Chicago-based:

The night was also filled with raffles and prizes, courtesy of SingleHop. They even provided glowing green beer cups, which were used by the bartenders. (The "greenback girls" were a nice touch too.)

Overall I had a good time with my IT friend Tager Evans, and I can't wait for the next event!
