Google Reader lack of history Dec11 '07

One thing that's always bugged me about Google Reader is it's lack of history. I tend to browse through feeds in the same manner as clicking on links in web pages. However, in a standard web page, you can always use the browser's back button to immediately jump to the previously viewed page. This kind of "linear browsing" is not available in Google Reader.

Once you move away from an item, it disappears into the void. You can't go back to view it again. And if you weren't proactive enough to either Star or Share the item, the only way to recover it is to manually go digging through subscription folders until you find the feed source, and then view all of the items. Or you could search for it using the recently implemented search feature.

It would be nice if Google Reader included some kind of Forward and Back buttons within the application. Or it could simply be a link that says "History," where you can view all of your "read" items, in most recent order.
