Calendars and Reminders Dec17 '07
In my experience, I've noticed that "calendar" and "reminder" web services often go hand in hand. A reminder service is often not as useful without calendar capabilities, that is - the ability to supply distinct dates and times for when your tasks are due. A reminder is often naked without a due date.
At the same time, a calendar service is not as useful without reminders.
It seems that no application excels at providing the user both calendar and reminder services, so I end up using two separate services.
I use Google Calender for basic calendar needs, and Remember The Milk for reminders and tasks.
Google Calendar calls each item an event, whereas Remember The Milk calls each item a task.
Events can have a start and end date. Tasks can only have due dates.
Sometimes the distinction between an event and a task is quite blurry, so I am often undecided to which application I submit my item.
Is an end date really a due date? Does a task need a start date?
These kind of questions keep me using two applications, although I'd like to use only one. I am wondering if 30boxes, or some other service, provides a better meshing of calendar and reminders.
