Brightkite provides geo-contextual information Apr23 '08
I've started using Brightkite to provide location-based input.
I previously posted to Twitter my whereabouts, but the application didn't do anything useful with that information, such as alert me to other individuals in the same area. Brightkite fills this niche.
Using Brightkite is as simple as using Twitter. From a mobile phone, I simply text my location to Brightkite, which then looks for "happenings" in that area. If Brightkite finds anything or anyone interesting around me, it alerts me right back.

Meeting people has never been easier.
Now if we can just get other services to tap into Brightkite, we'll have a plethora of location-based data to make our lives easier, and infinitely more interesting.
